The Kawana Dolphins have signed an agreement with the Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) to relocate to the Meridan Plains Sporting Fields in 2025.

The Kawana Forest Residents Association (KaFRA) has dedicated many hours each week over the last few months to meetings, phone calls, email correspondence and site visits to gather video and photo evidence to support these conversations.  KaFRA then engaged with key stakeholders from SCC to discuss the relocation project, understand the plans and potential impacts and share local insights about the area.

We have summarised the key information in the link below:

Our KaFRA committee

The committee is made up of a small group of dedicated, resident volunteers who are juggling busy lives while generously investing time and energy into addressing critical issues that impact our community. Whether it’s advocating for better infrastructure (like the bus service we now have) or organizing community events (we’re still looking to fill this role so we can continue to organize the events like we have done in the past) or championing environmental initiatives (like the climate trail walk), we receive many messages each week from local residents on a variety of topics.

Over the past two years, we have been working in caretaker mode as no new community members have been able to take over key roles. If you’re passionate about our community, consider actively joining the committee. Reach out to find out more about what we do, and maybe you would like to come as a guest to our next committee meeting in August, prior to our AGM later in the year.
